Miami City Ballet dancers in One Line Drawn. Choreography by Brian Brooks. Photo © Alexander Iziliaev.
I took advantage of my Spring Break to go watch Miami City Ballet on their Program Three. This was a mixed program as it included three pieces from three hugely different choreographers: George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Brian Brooks.
The performance was held at a very difficult time for the state of Florida, as recent events include the mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School and the falling of a pedestrian bridge at the Florida International University main campus. The company dedicated the performance to the 17 victims of the high school shooting, especially when one of them, Jaime Guttenberg, was a 14-year-old dancer.
I hope you like my review as I take you through the three pieces individually.
